Contractor's Toolbox for Projects Seeking Leed Certification

Seminar will cover the following topics; Introduction to LEED, Intergrated Project Delivery, Stakeholders Responsibilities, Contractor Responsibilities, Specifications, Documentation, Procurement, Risk, Contract Insurance, Bonding and Holdback, Estimating and Costs, Sustainable Sites, Water Efficiency, Energy & Atmosphere, Innovation & Design Process, Indoor Environment Quality. All participants will receive a comprehensive course manual. About the Presenters Jeremy Carkner, P. Eng, LEED AP Principal, Project Manager Jeremy Carkner is a Project Manager and Building Science Engineer in the Burlington office of Morrison Hershfield Limited, and is a Principal of the firm. Jeremy has accumulated significant knowledge of energy usage problems with existing buildings, the inter-relationship of the envelope and HVAC systems as they relate to energy usage, and implementation of energy usage improvements. Jeremy has been involved in sustainable design aspects of the building envelope for over 10 years, and is currently working with architects, developers, and building owners on dozens of projects relating to LEED, and sustainability in general. Jeremy is an active participant in MH’s internal “green team” discussions, and leads internal training of local MH staff relating to the various LEED Canada-rating systems. Matt Vervoorn, P. Eng, LEED AP Project Manager Matt Vervoorn is a Project Manager and Building Science Engineer in the Burlington office of Morrison Hershfield Limited, with over seven years of related experience in sustainable design and building envelope consulting. Matt has participated on a wide variety of both new construction and building retrofit projects, and most recently has garnered specialized experience in commissioning coordination with respect to the LEED rating system. Matt leads MH’s office greening projects for the Burlington branch, and is an active participant within the Hamilton-Halton Construction Association where he is a member of the Education Committee.
